Special needs children gather in Mentor for an Easter egg hunt with video
A week before the Easter holiday, about 100 people gathered at North Mentor Centenary United Methodist Church in Mentor for an egg hunt designed for special needs children.
Steph mulberry purse anie Blaker who helped organize the event, said she was inspired to make the event specifically for special needs children after the first hunt for all kids at the church 14 years ago.
Children enjoyed a number of activities, including hunting for Easter eggs in an i mulberry purse nflatable pool filled with Easter grass, getting a picture taken with the Easter Bunny and letting loose in a separate room filled with 1,000 bags of Easter grass.
“This is their day, this is their families’ time, this is their time,” she said.
In addition to taking home the strands of Easter grass stuck up the kids’ sleeves and in their hair, the children also had the chance to take home a gift bag and various Easter crafts.
And if the children needed a little time to cool off, a handful of therapy dogs and rabbits were available to enjoy in a quiet mulberry purse er, darker area of the party.
The festivities capped off with a show from the church’s puppet ministry. Marie Barrett and her daughter Abagail, a member of the ministry, have been helping the event come to life for three years.
